Janet is an energetic and dedicated teacher and mentor, and one of Brisbane's most sought-after teachers of flute. She operates a thriving home studio as well as holding positions at the Young Conservatorium Griffith University, Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie), and St Peter's Lutheran College.
Janet presents a wholistic approach to flute tuition, incorporating elements of theory, music history, contemporary techniques, ensemble performance, solo performance, psychology of music, concert attendance and physical awareness. She places a strong emphasis on technique, expressive musicality and intelligent, creative approaches to practise, in order to assist students in reaching their fullest potential.
Janet welcomes new students at her home studio. Prospective students should be keen and motivated, and willing to invest the necessary time and energy in developing their flute playing skills. Students of all levels (from beginner to advanced) and all ages (7 years +) will be considered for tuition.
Former students have successfully gained positions in tertiary music programs at the University of Qld, Qld Conservatorium Griffith University, ensembles such as the Qld Youth Orchestras, and consistently achieve exemplary results in eisteddfods (Redlands Eisteddfod, NSW Flute Society Eisteddfod, Brisbane Eisteddfod, Qld Flute Guild Flute Challenge) and examinations from Grade 1 to diploma level (AMEB, ABRSM, Trinity).
