SUB MASS 4 draws you into the depths of Burnett Lane to experience new work by SCM directors Julian Day, Luke Jaaniste and Janet McKay.
This performance event is part of SUPER CRITICAL MASS, an ongoing project exploring sonic mass and instrumental density, in which groups of performers play identical instruments to activate unexpected and alternative performance spaces: warehouses, shopping malls, railway sheds, laneways. Performers work closely with composers and sound artists to generate simple ‘algorithms’ (memorisable task-based scores) with unusual and evocative results. As a listener you are invited to walk through the space or simply sit within the evolving sound-fields.
